Let the brilliance of the beautiful island shine on everyone.
We sincerely thank you for the exceptional understanding and support you have always given to us at Okinawa Churashima Foundation.
The "Okinawa International Ocean Exposition," which was themed on the ocean, was held in 1975. In the following year, the “Ocean Exposition Commemorative Park Management Foundation” was established, following a decision to construct a national park on the expo site.
For more than 30 years since then, the Foundation has managed and operated the national park and carried out such projects as investigative research on subtropical flora and fauna, Shurijo Castle, etc., and relevant public awareness-raising activities. In October 2012, the “Ocean Exposition Commemorative Park Management Foundation” was renamed “Okinawa Churashima Foundation.”
In the future, in addition to the continuation of the projects that the Foundation has carried out so far, we will focus our efforts toward new investigative research on marine culture, development and marketing of systems and goods that we have accumulated by taking advantage of the know-how we have accumulated so far, and the management and operation of recreational facilities, etc. We intend to spread the brilliance of this “Churashima (beautiful island),” which is full of attractive features such as Okinawa’s nature, culture, and history, to people around the world, the people in the future, and the “uminchu (everyone)” transcending national and generational boundaries.
We look forward to your continued support in the future.
Note: “Umanchu” means “millions of people, or everyone” in the Okinawan language.
